Acne is a skin problem that is characterized by the appearance of spots on some parts of the body, like face, neck, back, and chest. These spots can range from mild, such as black and white comedones, until serious spots containing of pus and cysts. Usually the serious spots will leave a scar. Besides characterized by symptoms such as oily skin and the appearance of spots, sometimes acne also causes the skin feels hot and painful to touch. There are some parts of the body usually covered with acne and the most common is the face. Acne is a common condition, which means that most people must have experienced. Most of acne cases occurs in people who are under 28 years old. Especially for teenagers, they are very prone to acne at the age of 14-19 years. Although acne may disappear by itself with the growth of age, but in most of cases, there are still some people experiencing acne problems in the mid of 20 years. Women aged 20 years five times more likely to have it than men aged 20 years.

Acne can appear at any age, but changes in hormone levels during puberty is often associated with its causes. The hormonal changes affect the gland which produce oil or sebum that is located close to the follicles hair in the skin. The Increasing of the gland activities causes the production of sebum on the face also increases. So the sebum stacks could be joined with dirt and dead skin cells, then clog the pores. When the pores clogged and with the number of sebum on the skin surface, a bacterium called Propionobacterium acnes will be growing quickly. This bacterium is the bacteria that causes acne. Propionobacterium acnes releases a kind of irritants which will irritate the skin. The effects of this irritation will cause redness and swelling, besides it also cause pus under the skin. beside in puberty period, acne can also be suffered by women due to the hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Acne is also known as hereditary factors. Most likely someone will have acne if both parents have as well.

Parts of the body that usually covered with acne is the face. This is experienced by most people who suffered from acne. Beside on the face, acne can also grow on the back and is experienced by more than half the people with acne. The last is the acne that grows on the chest. It is known that about 15 percent of people who experienced acne grown on the chest. In addition to the appearance of spots, the skin also becomes greasy when we have acne, hurt or even hot when touched. There are six types of acne spots, including papules, pustules, black comedones, white comedones, nodules, and cysts. Papules are small painful lump. Its size is small with red color and soft texture. While pustules are small bumps that in the end there will be an accumulation of pus.

The acne treatment sometimes takes months, depending on how severe the acne is suffered. You can do it by yourself by using a soap or mild facial cleanser and warm water to clean the acne area. But avoid using water that is too hot or cold because it can make acne worse. Otherwise, you can see a doctor. The doctor may refer you to a dermatologist if it appears painful nodules, in addition to papules and pustules in large numbers on the chest, back, and face. However, the most improtant thing that we have to know in the acne treatment is patience. If you're treating acne, you should not expect quick results because the process can take up to three months. Patience and endurance are needed during the process.
